Formed in 2019, Barefoot Eco Surveys have spent years providing quality bird survey data to an ever-growing client base of energy, engineering, and ecology companies.

What makes Barefoot Eco Surveys work?

Our USP is simple – we focus almost solely on bird surveys (we can provide bat surveyors too).

Our founder Simon has over 40 years’ experience birding across multiple continents. After moving into commercial bird surveys he found that there was a gap in skills between the field surveyor and the expert witness. We fill that gap.

We quickly realised that the best bird surveyors are birders. A flash of colour out of the corner of the eye, or that ‘little brown job’ flying over – with the knowledge that an experienced birder naturally possesses, they can identify a food-carrying Yellowhammer disappearing over a hedge.

Birders are obsessed with learning and observing detail. This means we’re confident in our observational skills and note-taking. We know the habits of Skylarks and what their territorial disputes and distraction displays actually look like.

Our management team are ex-corporate – we know how to set up and manage process. When you receive a data sheet, a completed map, or route sheet, the data is sourced from a repeatable process and is easy to understand.

We use standardised methodologies that can be adapted to your requirements, and we can also help your teams summarise the data.
